Bastion Tunnels, Tallinn, Estonia
With Tallinn's long history, and location it's no surprise that it was heavily fortified. The iconic city walls with their red roofs are one of the main tourist attractions of the city. Large earthwork bastions can also be seen and within these are many passages, used in the past to defend the city. In the 20th Century a number of these tunnels were re-purposed as air raid shelters. A section of the tunnels was restored in recent years and is currently open to the public.
