Hello and welcome to the first of my world heritage sites photo blogs. I hope to be adding new sites each week! First we have the archaeological sites of Pompeii & Herculaneum, an essential location for anyone interested in history. Two Roman towns which were buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The sites have been excavated over many years. During the excavation, many artefacts have been recovered which give a glimpse into daily life around 2000 years ago. It is now possible to walk along the Roman streets and see houses, shops and really be taken back in time!

We are going to Herculaneum and pompeii for the 3rd time this year - so fascinating. I would love to go down the tunnels as Herculaneum but can't find anything about how to do this. Can you give any guidance
