Folkestone Warren Fossils - Ammonites

Copt Point in Folkestone, Kent, UK is a great place to find ammonite fossils.  It is part of Folkestone Warren country park and the best place to find them is amongst the shingle and in the eroding cliffs.  The gault clay here is rich in fossils of ammonites and other marine creatures which existed some 120 million years ago.  Some beautiful examples can be prised from the clay and when first exposed they are covered in a iridescent nacre shell. Here are some pictures of fossils found at this location and I will add more as time allows, each picture shows a few hour's finds.

The sea is an excellent place to tap into the many cool things nature has to offer. Especially Copt Point where you can always expect to find rare fossils.
